PTFE Membrane, also known as polytetrafluoroethylene membrane, is the micro porous membrane using polytetrafluoroethylene as raw material through special processes such as premix process, extrusion, calendaring, two-way stretch, etc. It enjoys high mechanical strength, strong hydrophobicity, non-adhesion, rub resistance, high and low temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, antibacterial properties, resistance to penetration, good dielectric properties, etc.
According to the usage, PTFE membrane can be divided into waterproof membrane, filtering membrane, purification membrane, clothing membrane, etc. Featuring windproof, warm and waterproof characters, the clothing membrane can be combined with other fabrics to produce military clothing, medical clothing, special protective clothing, outdoor sports clothing, sleeping bags, tents, etc.
DuPont of the United States took the lead in making PTFE membrane by drawing process in the 1960s, and then PTFE membrane began to develop in Japan and Europe in the 1970s, after which the scale of the global PTFE membrane industry continued to expand. China began to study PTFE membrane technology in the late 1970s. In the early stage, limited by the technical level, the products could only be used in a few fields and the industry scale was small. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, PTFE membrane manufacturing technology in China made breakthroughs, with a wider range of application of products and a gradually expanded scale of the industry.
From 2015 to 2020, driven by the continuous development of the electronic, chemical, pharmaceutical and environmental protection industries, the global market demand for PTFE membrane continues to grow. With the increasingly prominent ecological and environmental problems, counties all over the world attach increasing importance to environment protection, and the demand for PTFE membrane in the environmental protection field is growing rapidly, which has become an important driving force for the growth of the global PTFE membrane market. It is estimated that the global PTFE membrane market will reach about RMB 10.36 billion in 2020.
